"Shinkenkan
Dojo"
真 剣 館 道 場
A Sincere House
to Study the Way
The Shinkenkan is a Private Traditional Okinawan Karate Dojo that is based in England U.K. It is
the base for the small group of personal and private students, training partners, and friends of Glyn
Jones Sensei 6th Dan, regardless of our varying residence locations.  The Dojo was formed with the
intention of creating a place of training that would genuinely reflect the more authentic, or original
ways of practising and studying Okinawan Karate.

Karate is an Art that is so often neglected, watered down, and at times totally misunderstood or very
poorly represented in the West. Okinawan Karate as practised by the Peaceful people of Okinawa
is an Art for longevity based on the virtues of Self Protection and Health. (Not Sport).

Dojo members work hard and pull together both through the good times and the bad, both
with
respect and honesty, just in the same way that many good close families do too. The Shinkenkan
Dojo is not about money, we have no interest in financial gain, large classes, sporty competitions,
fancy offers or frills. The focus is solely on studying the ways of Okinawan Karate as passed on by
Karate Teachers of both past and present on Okinawa.
A deep understanding of True Karate does take much effort and devotion, combined with many
hours of hard work and sweat in the Dojo, (Place of training).
Glyn also firmly believe that Real Karate should be taught within the parameters of people having
good etiquette, courtesy and manners. As if taught and passed on correctly Okinawan Karate not
only produces good all round Martial artists, but also lays the foundations of good nice people.

As the assigned Ryusyokai England Shibu Cho, Glyn Jones Sensei honestly & openly wishes to
pass on these training methods at the highest levels. Therefore, he has no desire to lower
standards. Students have varying levels of ability and understanding and are treated as such, and
pushed within their own capabilities, whilst always encouraged to take responsibility for their own
actions and training. Making excuses, laziness and talking the talk in reality is not true Karate.

Perspective new students must be at least 16 years of age and are only accepted within the
Shinkenkan  Dojo on a trial basis. As was always the Traditional way, the Shinkenkan Dojo, as in
Glyn Jones Sensei chooses who he wishes to teach the Art of Okinawan Karate to.
